STAYING TO SCHOOL LUNCH (click for a pictorial guide to the kitchen service!)

At lunchtime, children are cared for by our team of Lunchtime Organisers.
The majority of children thoroughly enjoy having their mid-day meal together at school.

At Smithy Bridge School, we pride ourselves that the children can have an excellent cooked meal at a very reasonable cost.

Our school has won the Heartbeat Award for Healthy Eating for the last three years in succession.

The current menu rota is always available from the menu button on the home page.
If they appear too small to read, just use the enlargement button in Acrobat Reader.

School meals are payable weekly in advance via WisePay our online payment system. You can also pay, termly, half-termly, or monthly in advance for meals.  Once your child has elected to have school meals or a packed lunch they must stay with that choice for the full half term (approx 6 weeks).

Arrangements for supervision of children wishing to bring packed meals are just the same as for cooked meals, except for reasons of safety we do not allow food or drinks to be brought in glass containers. Please, also think carefully of what you put in the lunch box, bearing in mind warm storage conditions within school!

If you think your child may be eligible for free school meals (that is if you receive Income Support), please enquire, in confidence, at the school office or ask the Headteacher for further information.

Please do claim your entitlement - it helps both you and the school

If your child is granted free school lunches by the Rochdale Council Benefits Section the other children will not be aware of this as we have an online payments system so children do not bring any money into school. They queue for lunch in the same place and eat lunch at the same time and at the same tables, as their classmates.

Whatever meal your child has, he or she is in the care of Lunchtime Organisers, under the direction of the Headteacher. The children are expected to behave properly both at the table, and in the leisure time before and after they have finished their meal. Failure to co-operate with this rule may mean that the privilege of lunching at school is suspended, or even removed permanently, by the Headteacher.

Indoor and outdoor lunchtime activities are provided each day by the Lunchtime Organisers, and every child can choose to join in indoor activities on at least one lunchtime per week.
