Conscience Alley

We are reading the novel ‘Street Child’ by Berlie Doherty set in Victorian times where Jim, the main character, has to decide whether to escape from the workhouse or not. We made an ‘alley’ for our main character to walk down whilst we shouted reasons for going and for staying, playing on his conscience. It was a really hard decision to make and on this occasion, ‘Jim’ chose to stay.
